The 2017 Salexis Wines Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is ready for release.2017 was the last vintage of the California drought with an overwhelming amount of rain that winter. The vines had prepared for another round of less than normal rainfall, so they set a very small crop. This produced very concentrated flavorful, rich, powerful, and balanced wines, the 2017 is blend of 91.4% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8.6% Petit Verdot. Grown in the eastern edge of the Napa Valley, the vineyard was planted in 1997 with our recommendations of rootstock, clonal material, row direction, vine density, and trellising system. With the flavors and aromas of fresh cherries, vanilla, toasted almonds, and oak, this Cabernet is very well balanced with soft tannins and a long lingering finish. This wine is delightful to enjoy now with red meat dishes but will also continue to improve with cellaring for 7 to 10 years.
